Program notes:

“Dia,” from the Greek, ‘through’ or ”by means of.”

It is a prefix commonly used in many words, often to indicate a passage, process or relationship; it suggests an idea of crossing, connection but also distinction or separation.

The piece is structured on these two main aspects, two poles meant not as incommunicable entities but in relation to each other. Each pole contains its opposite “the one divides into two,” a dialectical sound continuum between timbre and rhythm.
