Program notes:

Inspired by a fragment of Sappho, the piece explores absence, memory, and the subtle wound of separation.
In this version for voice and double bass, the music becomes a suspended threshold: a voice oscillating between presence and disappearance, mirrored and transformed by the instrument, like an echo attempting to hold on to what is fading away.

Voice and double bass search for each other, brush against one another, drift apart; at times they seem to chase one another, at other moments they remain still, waiting for the other. Two distant registers that, despite their separation, attempt to converge toward a single breath, a shared line in which to recognize themselves. It is a fragile dialogue between closeness and distance, between what remains and what escapes.

A constantly shifting balance, where something comes to an end and something else begins.
